History of MAD-C

2022

    Pennsylvania

MAD-C texted, phoned voters, wrote letters and postcards, canvassed for the whole Democratic slate.

Josh Shapiro reelected Governor!!!

John Fetterman elected to the Senate. He flipped a Republican Senate seat!!!

Susan Wild reelected to the House of Representatives!!!

Eight of Pennsylvania's 14 US House seats are held by Democrats!!!

Pennsylvania's general assembly flipped from red to blue!!!

2021

Kathryn Garcia for Mayor of New York

MAD-C campaigned for Garcia as the best candidate by far to become NYC’s Mayor. Unfortunately she lost the election by a few thousand votes out of millions cast. She was recently appointed by Governor Hochul to be Chief of Operations for the State of New York.

Senate Races

2020

Raphael Warnock – Georgia – General and runoff elections

Jon Ossoff – Georgia – General and runoff elections

These were the last two seats in contention for the control of the Senate. Their victory gave the Democratic Party control of the Senate.

Mark Kelly – Arizona

We also campaigned for races in Maine, Montana, Colorado and North Carolina.

2018

Kyrsten Sinema - Arizona

In our most successful at the time, the Make A Difference Campaign worked to elect Kyrsten Sinema for Senate in Arizona. We mobilized more than 40 volunteers to text voters. We sent tens of thousands of texts to encourage Democrats to vote and to answer questions about locations and polling places. When we began Ms. Sinema was trailing in the polls but she won the election by a significant margin.

2017

Jon Ossoff - Georgia

We supported Jon Ossoff in a special election in Georgia. He came very close to winning a plurality in a three way race for Senate, but lost by a small margin in the runoff election.

2016

Jamie Raskin - Maryland

In the lead up to the 2016 election we supported Jamie Raskin's campaign for congress in Maryland's 8th Congressional District, by soliciting donations and enlisting people to work on the campaign. Despite being outspent 3 to 1 by his opponents, he won by a large margin.

2016

Maggie Hassan - New Hampshire

For the 2016 election, MAD-C canvased and raised money for Maggie Hassan who ran successfully for Senate in New Hampshire.

Katie McGinty – Pennsylvania

We worked through local election offices for candidates in Allentown, Bethlehem, and Coopersburg, Pennsylvania

Creation of The Make A Difference Campaign (MAD-C)

Following the 2016 presidential election, MAD-C was formed to mobilize people who felt helpless, frustrated, and angry by the election of an unpopular president. We continue to enlist people to bring democracy back to this country by electing Democratic Senators.

2014

Jeanne Shaheen - New Hampshire

Jeanne Shaheen ran against Scott Brown, the incumbent. The organizers canvased in Salem New Hampshire for Ms. Shaheen’s election. She ran a great campaign and was successful in defeating Sununu.

2008

Barack Obama - Virginia

The organizers of the Make A Difference Campaign (MAD-C) began working on Barack Obama's first presidential campaign in Virginia in 2007. We did canvasing and fundraising in Virginia, a traditionally Republican, conservative state to help elect the first black president. We were honored to be on the platform with Barack Obama on his final campaign appearance in Virginia on the day before the election. (See photo below).
